Five Points about Demonetization

1. On November 8, 2016 currency worth Rs 15.4 lakh-crore was demonetised. We now have reports claiming up to 97% of that amount has been banked by December 30, 2017.

2. As per the reports in media Rs 7 lakh crore has been deposited in around 6 million accounts, which have received deposits of Rs 2 lakh and more.

3. A number of experts and political parties in opposition claim that it failed to serve the purpose and was unnecessary harassment to the citizens.

4. There are number of aspects about Demonetization, however, It made the flow of cash in banking system and among their customers more systematic to track and identify the cash movements. Demonetization along with Re-monetization can be taken as a major strike on people using fake money in acts of crime like money laundering and terrorism.

5. Demonetization is certainly a milestone to make the finacial system of a developing country like India better organised and systematic in lines with e-governance.
